Here is the good news for Indians staying in the US is that now their Indian passports will be printed in the US itself.
As we all know that, getting a passport thing done when someone is abroad, it takes 2-3 week time, but now things are changing and people need not to wait much for their passports as now the Indian passports will be printed in the US itself. This decision would save a lot of time and bring convenience to immigrants, visitors and other Indians staying in US. The new program called the Passport Seva Project (PSP) was launched in the Indian consulates of New York, Atlanta and Houston with an aim to operationalize all Embassy/Consulates in the US throughout the course of next 15 days
Previously the application was filed in a US consulate, than information was sent to the Indian central database system there it would be verified and approved, and after that it get finally printed. But now, with the Passport Seva Project, all these delays will be eradicated and a smart approach has been initiated as the consulate database has been connected with the central database, to constrict the application process faster.
Some other advantages of this project would be quicker service; it will improve the experience of the applicants; lead to improvement in standardization; digital overhauling; End-to-end status tracking and Enhanced security.
Till now the consulates have successfully issued over 16,200 Indian passports this year.
